Equity, Inclusion & Welfare for Reserved Category Students
The SC / ST & Minority Cell at Mahadevananda Mahavidyalaya was established to ensure that students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Minority communities receive equal educational opportunities, support and representation. The cell operates in compliance with UGC guidelines and the directives of the Government of West Bengal.
We believe that social diversity enriches academic life. The cell works to remove barriers and create an environment where every student — regardless of background — can succeed.
Assist SC/ST/OBC/Minority students in accessing remedial coaching, study materials, library resources and academic guidance to improve performance.
Guide students through the process of applying for Post-Matric SC/ST/OBC and Minority scholarships through the OASIS and WBMDFC portals with institutional verification and forwarding.
Provide a mechanism for students to report caste or community-based discrimination, harassment or unfair treatment and ensure these grievances are addressed promptly and fairly.
Organise seminars, workshops and awareness campaigns on constitutional rights, social justice, anti-discrimination laws and career opportunities for students from reserved categories.
Inform students about reserved category seats in government jobs, banking, PSUs and higher education. Assist with application processes for government competitive examinations.
Maintain coordination with district welfare offices, OASIS, Anagrassar Kalyan Dept. (WB), WBMDFC and national bodies like the National Commission for SC/ST to keep students updated.
Students who face any discrimination or require assistance with welfare schemes may approach the SC/ST & Minority Cell convener through the College Office during working hours. All discussions are kept confidential. You may also write to mahadevanandamahavidyalaya@gmail.com with the subject line SC/ST Cell Enquiry.
