Department Details

Department of Physiology in Mahadevananda Mahavidyalaya was established in 2003 under University of Calcutta. The faculties were Sri Utpal Das (Contractual Whole Time Lecturer) and Anandi Bagchi Ghosh (Part Time Lecturer). Lab Assistant was Jayanta Bose. Then in 18th January, 2006 Smt. Sangita Barman joined as a Part Time Lecturer in this Department. Later on, this college was taken under West Bengal State University in 2010.

At present Dr. Arijit Karmakar (Assistant Professor and Head), Sri Utpal Das (State Aided College Teacher), Smt. Sangita Barman (State Aided College Teacher), and Sri Ramkrishna Mondal (Laboratory Assistant) are involved with the Department of Physiology.

The Department of Physiology has all types of laboratory facilities with well maintained equipments. This department also has a small departmental library. The students can read, take notes from them, or can copy. There are many E-books related with the subject. The Teachers and Non Teaching Staff of the Department are always very much cooperative and ready to help the students in all aspects.

The Department organizes Seminars, Workshops, Student Seminar etc on regular basis. Even in the Lockdown period many online Seminars at National, International levels, Quiz etc were organized along with the online classes. We also give stress on the Value Based Education so that the moral aspect of the students may be built up.

The Department of Physiology tried to assess General Health Condition of the Teachers and Staff of this College involving many physiological parameters. This has been taken up as a precautionary measure and for keeping records of their health status. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) also appreciated this effort in their last visit. This college is accredited by NAAC at 'A' grade. So our journey towards lightness from the darkness and exploring our knowledge will be continued.
